So what does an artist do when he’s not painting?

Well this one listens to a lot of music. Actually I listen constantly when I’m painting. I love it so much…most kinds except, no Hip Hop please. I am a HiFi junkie and have a monster sound system with almost 10,000 records and discs. Music lifts me, makes me smile, makes me cry and inspires much of my art. It is as important to me as breathing and eating.

I have always played music at parties and lately I’ve developed some skills and become a bit of a well known DJ locally.  I play clubs and bars around Maui as well as big house parties including my own infamous bashes. I’ve played with a few big names too, including the legendary Afrika Bambaata and DJ Dan. If I’d discovered this talent a bit earlier I think I could have been quite a star…seriously! But it is a great joy and much fun to just get a crowd filling the dance floor….wherever it is.

I love to cook and my friends all say I’m the best Sushi chef on the island!  Don’t know about that. We live on a very unique street and all my neighbors kinda have a very open door lifestyle. So we are always having people over for dinner or mini parties.  It’s a super social place and that works for me!

Living on a fantastic beach, a lot of my off time is spent on the ocean, windsurfing or wave kayaking, or swimming with my awesome dog, Sevin.

Most of my best buddies live on the beach and so we hang out almost every day. Sailing, surfing, hiking, barbecuing or having a fire at sunset, it’s all great stuff. In fact you can catch us most days by tuning into mauiwindcam.com. Check it out.

Then of course there’s the parties!
Well, did you expect me to tell you I throw the second best parties on the North Shore……….That’s not what my buds tell me.  Huge themed events taking up to five days just to set up. Crazy props and decorations. Lasers, smoke machines. We do it all….and that’s the only details you’re getting from me!

So, living on Maui is tough. Just finding enough hours in the day is a challenge. But I volunteered for the job and like everything I do…I’ll give it my best shot.
